Description: Amigos de los Rios / The Emerald Necklace Group is a heritage 501 (c) 3 nonprofit environmental justice; community-based natural infrastructure design organization dedicated to planning and implementing convergent natural infrastructure projects for the benefit of the residents of the East Los Angeles Basin. Position: Deputy Director

Description: The position of construction manager supports the managing director in supervising the design specialists of the department, in the implementation and reporting of the department function and in the improvement of the work process and the workplace. Administrative tasks include planning, organizing and controlling the day-to-day operations of the unit, quality assurance of the unit’s work, personnel management and support for personnel development. This position will continue to manage capital projects and provide technical expertise to support the operations of facility planning and design.

Position: IDEAS Urban Strategy Studio Lecturer

Description: UCLA Architecture and Urban Design is looking for a lecturer to teach together with the senior lecturer of the Urban Strategy Studio on the IDEAS campus. UCLA is seeking a year-long teaching assignment to teach this curriculum under the curricular direction and supervision of the senior faculty of the Urban Strategy Studio. The principal role of the instructor is to teach / teach courses that support the lead lecturer’s research efforts and develop new seminars to support the research.

Position: IDEAS Mobility Studio studio lecturer

Description: UCLA Architecture and Urban Design is looking for a lecturer to teach together with the senior lecturer of the Mobility Studio on the IDEAS campus. Mobility considers the influence of autonomous navigation technology on the design of buildings. Mobility transfers detection, mapping and navigation technology into buildings, leading to intelligent environments, and examines how machine vision reveals and reorganizes the circulation patterns of people and things moving within buildings. The IDEAS Mobility Studio deals with moving furniture, rooms, building envelopes and vertical transport mechanisms within buildings as well as moving vehicles, micromobility devices, sidewalk robots, aerial drones and pedestrians moving in and through buildings. In the past five years, the mobility studio has been the first in the world to introduce machine vision, SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), route planning and cost mapping to invent moving furniture and furnishing elements in the built environment. The studio uses particle simulation and agent-based game engine tools to create spaces and shapes instead of populating or evaluating them.
