- The Occoquan Chase
Plenty of hard work over the summer and Gonzaga's first fall rowing program combined for a most impressive win for the Gonzaga Crew at the Occoquan Chase on October 15, 2004.
This was a special victory indeed in that many of the boats competing comprised selected oarsmen from multiple schools.
Gonzaga's boat's were exclusively Eagle-powered.
Gonzaga's winning boat included: Damon Dowd - Cox and Oarsmen -
Ty Newell, Packey Stack, Matt Stepko, Dave Dorn, Carl Thunman,
Mike Eggleston, Ian Bates and Dan Gallagher. Check out the results page.
- Head of the Charles
During the weekend of October 23/24 in Boston Mass, the Boston Red Sox were playing in the World Series, the New England Patriots were establishing the longest winning streak in NFL history, Boston College Basketball is unbeaten and our Gonzaga Eagles were racing in the largest and most prestigious regatta in the world!!! Gonzaga's inaugural "Head of the Charles" performance was Super, to see the results click here. Congratulations again!.

- BOBBY BROWN '04
Bobby Brown '04 was invited to compete for a slot on the US Junior Mens National Team for 2004. Bobby trained with the selection team for one month and coxed the USA Team at the Independance Day Regatta, Philladelphia (click photo). Good luck at Boston College next year.
- Spring 2004 ALL-METS
This year the Washington Post selected Bobby Brown '04 and Sean Riordan '04 All Met. This is a first for Gonzaga where two Eagles made the Post's first team selection. JT McGrath '04, Wally Sedgewick '04 and Andrew Killion '04 received honorable mention.

Gonzaga Crew put 398,000 meters on the Ergs from sunup to sundown. Gonzaga Crew is extremely thankful to the Stack family, especially Mrs. Stack, for hosting our inaugural erg-a-thon. It was very successful. Thanks to all who participated.
Eagle Influence spans the globe
I have spent hundreds of hours building and maintaining this website for the past three years. I have heard from parents on foreign assignments, college recruiters and coaches from across the country but none more distant than freshman dad LTC Degnan stationed in Baghdad. (See photos below.)

Matt placed second in the lightweight junior men's division competing with rowers from the entire region and beyond.

Four Gonzaga Eagles rowed in the Youth 8+ event at the Head of the Charles with Thompson Boat Center on October 19 in Cambridge, Mass.
Bobby Brown '04, Sean Riordan '04, Wally Sedgewick '04 Packy Stack '05 placed 12th in a field of 51 shells for rowers age 20 and under. The shell beat Yale University, and St Joseph's University, becoming the third fastest high school aged team at the regatta.

This year the Washington Post selected Eric Gehrke for All Met. Paul Hamm along with Neal Sonnenberg made honorable mention. I believe this is a first for Gonzaga to have 3 rowers make the Posts All Met selection. Gonzaga's 2nd Eight was named as the Best 2nd Eight Boat , Go Eagles

Coach of the Year
Gonzaga's Head Coach Dave Foley was named by the Washington Post as the
ALL MET Rowing Coach of the year.
Gonzaga's Junior Eight was named "Best Boat" and senior Marty Gehrke was named "All Met". Congratulations Coach Foley!
- Our new Vespoli M2 shell was christened on April 5, 2002, at 5 PM at the Washington Navy Yard.
It was christened the "Joe Curseen, Jr. '72" in honor of our Gonzaga Alumnus, Joe, one of two DC postal workers who died of inhalation anthrax sent in letters addressed to the Senate Office building after the September 11 attacks. Click here to view.
